  • :blue_book: Governance General β€” For discussion and informal consensus-gathering related to potential governance proposals.

  • :speech_balloon: Request for Comment β€” The initial phase of the governance process, allowing the community to digest, comment on, and ask questions about a particular proposal.

  • :ballot_box_with_ballot: Proposal β€” Determines if there is sufficient will to make changes to the status quo. If supported, it leads to a formal Election discussion.

  • :disguised_face: Off Topic β€” For proposals that don’t fall within the scope of governance.

  • Protocol, transaction, or application support β†’ Discord

What makes a proposal pass

Strong proposals share four traits:

  1. Specific β€” Name the parameter(s), contract addresses, or actions. β€œIncrease HBAR LTV from 65% to 70%” beats β€œmake HBAR more capital efficient.”

  2. Justified β€” what problem does this solve, and what’s the evidence? Quantify when you can and provide data.

  3. Honest about risk β€” what could go wrong and how does the proposal handle it? Proposals that pretend there’s no downside lose credibility.

  4. Actionable β€” voters need exact numbers, addresses, and timelines; it’s important to ensure the proposal has actionable optionality.

How governance flows

Request for comment β†’ community discussion β†’ optional revisions β†’ proposal β†’ onchain vote β†’ execution.

Skipping the RFC stage is allowed but rarely works β€” proposals that haven’t been pressure-tested in discussion almost never pass.

Moderation

Off-topic, promotional, or bad-faith posts get removed without notice. Repeat offenders are banned. β€œSock-puppeting” to manipulate discussion or vote-weighting will result in a permanent ban. For questions about moderation decisions, please open a ticket in the official Bonzo Finance Discord.
